Kilpeck Parish Church

It is a shame perhaps  to dwell on any location too long but Kilpeck seems to me an excepetion. I have decvided to enter a set of four images taken of detailk on the exterior of the churcg. It is just so hardf to accept that these images were carved about a thousand years ago,

Kilpeck Parish Church

A parish church in Kilpeck near Hereford. The church is virtually untouched for more than a thousand years. This Romanesque church is highly decorated and the stone carvings have neither been restored nor conserved. The only way I can sum up is to say that it is truly unbelievable. The carvings illustrate fear and joy and there are some very playful carvings too. There are so many it is impossible to know where to look first.

Taken on Howard Street just outside the Thirsty Bear, a micro brewery and restaurant and opposite the new entrance to the Museum of Modern Art. I think it is a wonderful mix of architecture old and new.
